Character Design

This blog presents a 3D modelling process of a character, made universally to have costumes/gears attached to them. The full model is made up of the following 2 3D shapes (see Fig. 1):

  •  Sphere – For the head, the shoulders, the hands and the upper thigh.
  • Cylinder (edges bevelled with the Bevel modifier) – For the neck, the arms, the torso and the legs.
The approach for the art style was to make it easier to rig and animate via weight-painting the individual shapes and was inspired by an indie horror game called Crow Country (SFB Games, 2024), where its characters share the same style (see Fig. 2).
